The film is a modern-day take on a ‘Memento Mori’, Latin for, ‘Be mindful of death’. Running in parallel to this, is a story about rejecting the limitations of being a human and suffering the consequences. There are connections to the Existential concept of angst, which is described as a profound and deep-seated spiritual condition of insecurity and despair in the free human being.

For authentic living, what is needed is the resolute confrontation of death
- Martin Heidegger
In short;
an Authentic Being takes a leap of faith in pursuit of transcendence, prematurely.

I took part in the M&#38;C Saatchi 24 hour challenge on the weekend of 2nd November with fellow CSM graduate, Sam Pilling. We were short-listed for our entry. The judges were Alan Yentob, Peter Saville, Patrick Burgoyne, Sophie Fiennes and Graham Fink.

Please bear this in mind: the brief was for a brand film to be played before all ICA cinema screenings championing 'brutal simplicity'. We considered the environment of a cinema screening: you sit and absorb. We wanted to emphasise the current events-centric nature of ICA with our film.

		<description>

During my degree show, a small team of us set up the workshops in order to show how a variety of leading industries connect with Graphic Design. We achieved this through setting up a week of events called 'Little Tasks'.

Little Tasks comprised of two parts. In the background was student-led participatory work, where members of the public were able to get involved and engage with the students of the course. Whilst in the foreground, there was a team of students responding to tasks set for them by people from a very diverse range of Industries. We received tasks from the likes of British Petroleum, Why Not Associates, Design Museum, ABAKE and a Primary School in Paris. Each had a tangible outcome that was displayed in the studio as they were created. The ground floor became a dynamic, organic, growing exhibition within the main show.

In collaboration with Ken Kirton.

The aim was to effectively communicate Barnardo’s unwavering belief in children. The charity was also aware that when the public think of children’s charities, Barnardo’s wouldn’t be top of the list. Therefore they wanted the advert to make them famous.

City &#38; Art Istanbul, March 2009
Students from Central Saint Martins travelled to Istanbul to take part in the City &#38; Art project with students from Mimar Sinan.
They created interactive exhibits/installations or staged a performance for the area of Istanbul they were given to study.
This documentary was filmed and edited in 8 days to coincide with the exhibition at Museum of Modern Art in Istanbul.

City &#38; Art London, April 2009
Students from Mimar Sinan travelled to London, to take part in the City &#38; Art project with students from Central Saint Martins and London Metropolitan.
They created installations for Bishops Square, Liverpool Street, that explore the daily rituals that we undertake at the start of the day, whether consciously or subconsciously.
Here is an excerpt from the documentary where we join the groups in their final stages of their projects.
